Air Quality

In collaboration with Virginia Polytechnic and State University’s Air Transportation Systems Lab, we leverage the Federal Aviation Administration’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) to deliver rigorous, defensible air quality and environmental impact assessments. Our analyses quantify emissions and noise impacts associated with aircraft operations, ground support equipment, surface access traffic, and future development scenarios, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and international best practice.

By integrating environmental modelling with traffic forecasts and operational strategies, we help airports balance capacity expansion and commercial growth with environmental stewardship.

Noise Analysis

In collaboration with Virginia Polytechnic and State University’s Air Transportation Systems Lab (ATSL), backed by our experience in detailed flight track analysis and past editions of noise models including the Integrated Noise Model (INM), we have transitioned to noise model studies using Federal Aviation Administration’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT).

Our expertise spans noise contour modeling, scenario analysis, and community impact evaluation, helping airports make informed decisions on runway use, fleet mix, and operational procedures. With clear, data-driven insights, we support regulatory approvals, stakeholder engagement, and long-term noise management strategies.

Sustainability Planning

Airports are critical infrastructure that facilitate global and regional connectivity. They also drive economic growth through movement of people and freight. At Avinia, we fully understand the need for the aviation sector to embrace sustainability right across the asset lifecycle. Our experienced team supports a wide range of clients such as policy makers, airport operators and air cargo firms to define, integrate and embed sustainable development practices across the airport business.

We provide technically robust guidance on airport energy and emissions management. This includes detailed assessments of energy demand profiles, integration of on-site and off-site renewable energy systems (such as solar PV and energy storage), electrification of airside and landside systems, and optimisation of building and systems efficiency. We also evaluate low-emission surface access strategies, including public transport integration, electric vehicle infrastructure, and zero- or low-emission ground handling equipment, supported by fleet transition pathways and infrastructure readiness planning.

We incorporate sustainability into airport master plans requires moving beyond stand-alone environmental studies and embedding sustainability as a core planning and decision-making lens across all master plan elements—airfield, terminal, landside, utilities, commercial development, and phasing.

Terminal Simulation

Passenger terminals are dynamic environments where efficiency, safety, and passenger experience intersect. Terminal simulation provides airports with a risk-free platform to analyze flows at check-in, security, immigration, baggage reclaim, and boarding—ensuring bottlenecks are identified and mitigated before they occur.

Using advanced tools such as AirTOP, our experts deliver insights into queue management, facility sizing, and process optimization. The result: smoother passenger journeys, improved resource allocation, and optimized investments aligned with actual demand.

Our comprehensive terminal simulation capabilities complement our CONOPS development services by providing data-driven insights and validation of operational concepts.
