BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT (BLR)

  • Review of Existing Kerbside Layout
  • Passenger/Traffic Flow and Queuing Optimization
  • Redesign for Improved Space Allocation

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR), one of India’s fastest-growing airports, is entering a new phase of transformation. With all international operations now being consolidated at Terminal 2, Terminal 1 is being repurposed into a dedicated domestic terminal — marking a key step in optimizing capacity and operational efficiency.

Avinia was entrusted with the BLR T1 Kerbside Redevelopment Project. The project focuses on re-envisioning the terminal’s arrival and departure kerbside areas to streamline passenger movement, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall travel experience. It involves a comprehensive review and redesign of the kerbside layout, addressing existing inefficiencies while integrating smart mobility solutions and future-ready technologies.

NOIDA INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT (DXN)

  • Forecast review and facility requirements
  • Development of phased implementation plans with clearly defined milestones
  • Master Plan Options for the MMCH
  • Stakeholder consultations and integration with the overall airport master plan

Avinia was selected to formulate the Master Plan and development strategy for the Multi-Modal Cargo Hub (MMCH) at DXN Airport. The Master Plan envisions positioning the MMCH as the premier cargo gateway to North India, designed to be sustainable, intelligent and future-ready.

Aligned with the airport’s long-term vision, the plan ensures seamless integration of airside and landside operations, optimized connectivity, and cutting-edge infrastructure for cargo handling and logistics.

This initiative highlights Avinia’s expertise in strategic planning and future-ready infrastructure design– creating efficient and globally competitive cargo ecosystems.

  • Site Visit
  • Existing and Future Process Mapping
  • Dwell time Analysis
  • Capacity Assessment

Menzies Aviation (Bengaluru) Private Limited (MABPL) has developed a new domestic cargo facility at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR). The airport operator requested Avinia to validate the handling capacity and serviceable tonnage of the new facility across daily, monthly, and annual operations.

Avinia carried out a detailed process mapping of the existing domestic cargo operations and performed a time-stamp data analysis by commodity and package type to identify operational bottlenecks. The project further included technological recommendations to enhance process efficiency and streamline inbound and outbound cargo flows.

NAIROBI INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT (NBO)

  • Site Visit
  • Existing Conditions Assessment
  • Capacity Assessment
  • Quick Fix Solutions

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), located in Nairobi, is Kenya’s primary gateway and one of Africa’s busiest airports for both domestic and international traffic.

Avinia was retained to conduct a technical due diligence of the existing infrastructure as part of the proposed 30-year PPP concession. The assignment included existing conditions assessment, capacity assessment, and identification of quick-fix solutions to improve performance and efficiency by “sweating” existing assets in the near term.

BENGHAZI INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT (BIA)

  • Demand Assessment for Opening Day and Full Build
  • Concept of Operations (CONOPs) Report
  • Opening Day Requirements
  • Risk and Compliance Assessment

Benghazi International Airport is a greenfield development currently under construction, envisioned to handle up to 15 million passengers annually at full capacity, with an opening day capacity of 5 million passengers.

Avinia was retained as the Concept of Operations (ConOps) expert for the Passenger Terminal Building, providing strategic inputs to optimize operational flow and ensure alignment with local regulatory frameworks. As part of its engagement, the team assessed opening day requirements and proposed key design refinements to mitigate operational risks and enhance terminal efficiency.

CHICAGO O’HARE Community Noise Analysis
and Fly Quiet Program Support

At Chicago O’Hare International Airport, one of the busiest and most complex hub airports in the world, Avinia team member Dr. Antonio Trani provided specialized technical support focused on aviation noise analysis and community engagement.

The scope of work included:

  • Verification of Existing Noise Contours: Conducted an independent review and validation of the FAA’s published noise contours on behalf of communities located to the west of the airport. This effort ensured that the modeled impacts accurately reflected operational conditions and provided local stakeholders with a clear and data-driven understanding of aircraft noise exposure.
  • Fly Quiet Program Noise Estimation: Developed estimated noise contours for the airport’s Fly Quiet Program—an initiative designed to reduce nighttime aircraft noise impacts by adjusting runway use and flight procedures. These estimates allowed stakeholders to compare alternative runway configurations and assess potential community benefits.
  • Innovative Computational Tools: Designed and implemented custom computer code to quickly calculate and visualize noise impacts associated with varying runway use patterns and configurations. This tool provided planners, decision-makers, and community representatives with an efficient means of evaluating trade-offs across multiple operational scenarios.

FORECASTS FOR INDIAN AIRPORTS for
BUY SIDE P3 ENGAGEMENTS

Avinia team was mandated to provide traffic advisory services for several Indian airports as part of the pre-bid advisory support to a bidder. The long-term traffic projections for these airports ranged from 40-80 million passengers annually.

Avinia team developed supply-side near-term projections based on inputs and interviews with various airlines operating in the India market. Near term traffic projections were also done at a monthly level using advanced mathematical models such as ARIMA and SARIMA.

The forecasts were projected out to a 50 year period based on macro-economic parameters.

As part of the catchment analysis, Avinia team also conducted an O-D survey to understand the passenger profile and catchment area. For a couple of airports, the dual airport scenarios were modelled and various traffic allocations were assessed based on airline preferences and capacity limitations. Detailed capacity assessment was also done for airfield, terminal, landside and cargo facilities.

The scope of work included doing cargo projections and an in-depth commodity data  analysis.

Caribbean Airports – Emissions
Inventory and Forecast Analysis

Avinia team member, Dr. Antonio Trani developed a comprehensive inventory of aircraft and airport-related emissions for Norman Manley International Airport (Jamaica) and Punta Cana International Airport (Dominican Republic). The analysis evaluated emissions across multiple forecast scenarios, capturing both near-term operational growth and long-term development trajectories.

All modelling was conducted using the FAA’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT 3), ensuring consistency with international best practices. The analyses were designed to satisfy ICAO standards, providing regulators, airport operators, and local stakeholders with robust, credible data to guide environmental compliance, strategic planning, and sustainability initiatives.
